Welcome/Introductions:  Were conducted by Avery Garner recognizing good agency coverage for this meeting.

STD Presentation:  Cancelled for this particular meeting but, the HIV/STD Update will be at SHANDS Jacksonville on August 3rd and 4th.   See Avery for Registration forms.  This will be an opportunity to get good comprehensive information.

 

AIDS Update Meeting:  Will be July 1, 2005, River Region HS, Inc., Park Street Office at 8:30am.  Prevention or Patient Care program participants are encouraged to come and share information.  Other programs will be there to share what their programs have to offer involving housing dollars etc.

Red Ribbon Relay Committee:  The AIDS walk is still on the calendar for October 1, which is the first Saturday in October.  Participants are encouraged be involved in the planning of the walk by attending the meeting at 9:30am right after the AIDS Update meeting in the same location. 

 

World AIDS Week Committee:  Still going strong, meets on the second Tuesday of every month at noon on Franklin street at the Mt. Olive AME church.

 

Prevention Coop Meeting:  July 26th , BCCC conference room, 2:00pm. 

 

Condom Distribution:  July 1, 2005,  900 Bldg. 5th fl, room 506, 11:00am – 1:00pm.  Pick up your quarterly allotment.  Please ensure no one from your agency has already picked up the allotment for your organization.  Available condoms are Durex, Lifestyles and  flavored.

 

Positive Attitudes Support Group was plugged on the radio by Avery.

 

Program Announcements for July:

 

Women’s Center for FACES Project:  July 6th commences phase-2 of the project focusing on Mother and children, being a child of an HIV positive mother should continue through the 2nd week in August.  FACES is eleven positive women who send out their voice to encourage the community who are HIV positive.

Avery will check to see if FACES could have a display at the HIV/STD Update.

 

Health Fairs:  River Region/MAC will be having a Health Fair the first Saturday in July off 33rd and Moncrief, possibly 4:00pm until 8:00pm.

 

Prevention for Positives:  Will possibly be willing to work with you to find funding to assist with events of interests.

 

JASMYN:  House tours will be conducted for person’s not familiar with the facility from noon to 1:00pm on June 30th .  The address is 923 Peninsular Place, directly behind River Regions administrative offices on Park Street.

The JASMYN on site clinic through SHANDS is in operation.  The first clinic went well and is opened twice monthly.

 

Clear Waiver:  The Clear Waiver information is being processed and will be used at the River Region State Street drop in Center.

 

Linkage:  Planned Parenthood and River Region Human Services have contracts to test and link clients to services.  Notify Avery when linkage is needed through TIII network providers.  The Title III Network consists of Early Intervention Services for new and existing positives.  New positives are linked to the network for linkage to services. Case managers will handle follow-ups and follow through with the people at the network.

 

National HIV Testing Day was a Great Success. 

 

Think HIV Campaign Website:  thinkhiv.com will link to State, CDC and the National Minority AIDS Council.  The website will provide information in its entirety.  A future website format was discussed to include HIV Prevention and Patient Care.  The Think HIV Campaign will continue through the month of July working with local clinics encouraging them to offer HIV testing to their clients on a regular basis and display simple awareness messages in their waiting areas..  Posters will be delivered to partnering clinics to track for testing outcomes.

Incidence data:  Will continue to be collected for distribution as requested. 

 

National Intervention Conference:  Avery attended and found that Area 4 has quite a comprehensive program in comparison to the whole country. The state of Florida often uses our program as a model in comparison with other cities. 

 

FCCAP Meetings: - Meet the first Tuesday every other month, 5:30 until 7:30pm, Smith Auditorium.  The next meeting will be in August..
