As globalization and the Internet
connect the world’s citizens over vast distances, Africa
has emerged as a player and partner for many enterprises
and industries willing to invest there. Supporting this
point, computer giant Microsoft, in 2004, established a
subsidiary, Microsoft
East Africa, as a
conduit to facilitate sale of its
Kiswahili-oriented
software products throughout East & Central Africa.
In another example,
tourists brought $577 million into Kenya’s economy last
year. These recent
developments signal that many of Africa’s nations are
positioned for significant economic growth.
