Duval
County Elections March 20, 2007!
Paper Ballots, Precincts and Voting Machines |
|
Voting precincts in Duval County changed in 2006. They were in
effect for the last General Election, but it is always good to check
to make sure you are going to the right place. The information is on
your voter's registration (new ones were mailed out with updated
information last year), and on sample ballots that were sent out
during the past month.
Also keeping with the
last election, the March 20 vote will allow residents to choose at
the polling location whether they want to use the touch screen
machine or use an optical scan ballot.
To find out your voting
precinct, a map to the location, and view your sample ballot,
use the interactive map provided by
the Supervisor of Elections Office (you may need to download
additional, free software).
Diebold Election Systems, the company that makes
Florida's new voting equipment has online demonstrations of how to
properly use the
Touch Screen and
Optical Scan
voting machines.
For more information
about upcoming Duval County elections, visit the Supervisors of
Elections
Web site
or call the
office at (904) 630-1414.

P. Diddy has just launched "Citizen
Change," a non-profit organization that aims to recruit young voters
to come out for the upcoming presidential elections.
"I want young people to know that your vote can change your life,"
Combs said in a statement distributed during his annual White Party
at the Sony PlayStation 2 Estate this past weekend. "I am asking
young Americans to hold their vote hostage and force the candidates
to address our issues."
According to Diddy, education, health care and jobs are some of the
key issues the youth needs to address. "Citizen Change" will work to
educate young voters on those issues in the months leading to the
elections.

"About 31% of African American males in Florida cannot vote as a
result of felony disenfranchisement. That figure is three
times greater than the percentage of black males disenfranchisement
internationally. Embarrassing."

"Government is not
infallible. Government is only an executive control, a
centralized authority for the purpose of expressing the will of
the people. Before you have a government you must have the
people.
Without
the people there can be no government.
........
The government must be, therefore, an expression of the will of
the people."

“George Bush
has never attended [a meeting of] the Congressional Black Caucus
since his arrival in Washington almost four years ago,” noted
Muhammad Nassardeen, president of Inglewood-based Recycling
Black Dollars. “His relationship with the [CBC] is very
disrespectful to African-American leadership in this country.”

The Bush
Chronicles |
“George Bush will go down in history
as the most disliked president by the African-American community
in at least four decades,” Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Los Angeles
said. “Members of the African-American community will always
remember that he stole the vote, indeed the presidency. Bush is
not seen by the African-American community as legitimate.”
