A Call For Reparations!!  Rally on DC!!

AUGUST 17^TH, 2002:  GET ON THE BUS FOR REPARATIONS AND OPPOSE WAR AND REPRESSION!

   Brothers and sisters, its time to “Get on the Bus.” On August 17^th, thousands of our people are expected to descend on Washington, D.C. to show our support for reparations and our opposition to the so-called “war on terrorism.”

   The United Nations, last year, declared that the trans-atlantic slave trade was a crime against humanity. This was a great victory, for it gave greater legitimacy to our just demand for reparations.

   The demand for reparations has been a historic cry of our people. The enslavement and theft of our labor; the destruction of our families, language and customs; the lynchings and theft of our land; the apartheid segregation laws and inequalities before the law and in every aspect of our lives; the last hired and first fired discrimination in employment; the continuing bad housing, bad schools, police brutality, unemployment and a host of other social ills, cries out for reparations. This government owes us!

   We will not remain silent while others (Japanese, Jewish survivors, etc.) receive reparations and compensation for crimes committed against them. What about us? This government owes us! Let’s get on the bus to D.C. and make our voice heard.

   When we go to D.C. to demand reparations, lets show our political maturity by letting this government know that we are opposed to their so-called “war on terrorism.” Let’s make them aware that we will not be cannon fodder for their program to “exploit middle-eastern oil.” We will not be fooled by the “war on terrorism” into supporting attacks on our own civil liberties or into support for Israel’s terrorism against the Palestinian people.  We know who the real “axis of evil” is....Bush, Sharon and Blair.
